JEWELRY CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDE
Budika Bijoux creates jewelry designed to last a lifetime. To keep your pieces looking as beautiful as the day you received them, please follow these care and maintenance guidelines.
GENERAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Your jewelry should be protected from:
- Physical impacts and rough handling
- Water, moisture, and humidity
- Perfumes, cosmetics, and hair products
- Cleaning products and household chemicals
- Chlorine (swimming pools and cleaning products)
- Excessive heat and direct sunlight
PRECIOUS METAL CARE
Gold Jewelry (18K & 22K):
Most Budika Bijoux pieces are crafted from 18-carat gold. Our 22 -carat gold jewelry requires extra care due to its higher purity and softer nature. White gold jewelry is rhodium-plated to enhance its brilliant shine.
Silver Jewelry (925 Sterling Silver):
Silver is a soft metal that requires gentle handling. Uncoated 925 silver naturally oxidizes (tarnishes) when exposed to moisture, heat, or air – this is not a defect but a natural property of silver.
RHODIUM PLATING
Some of our gold and silver pieces feature rhodium plating for added durability and shine. The rhodium coating may naturally wear off within 3-6 months depending on use. If your rhodium-plated jewelry begins to look worn, contact us about re-plating services at a nominal cost to restore its original luster.
GEMSTONE & CRYSTAL CARE
Precious Stones:
Although diamonds and precious stones are among the hardest natural materials, they can still be vulnerable to damage, especially when exposed to heat or physical impact. Avoid wearing stone jewelry at the beach or pool where salt, sand, and sun can affect their appearance.
Semi-Precious Stones & Crystals:
These require special attention and should be kept away from direct light and excessive heat, as they may change color, crack, or become permanently damaged.
PROPER STORAGE
- Store each piece individually in jewelry boxes or soft pouches to prevent scratching
- Keep jewelry in a cool, dry place away from bathrooms and kitchens
- Avoid exposure to humidity, which can cause tarnishing and oxidation
- Never store jewelry in direct sunlight or near heat sources
WHEN TO REMOVE YOUR JEWELRY
Always remove your jewelry when:
- Showering, bathing, or swimming
- Exercising or playing sports (especially contact sports)
- Cleaning or doing household chores
- Washing your hands (for rings with stones)
- Sleeping (to prevent catching or deformation)
- Applying cosmetics, perfumes, or hair products
WEARING YOUR JEWELRY SAFELY
- Always put jewelry on last, after perfumes and cosmetics have dried
- Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray directly onto earrings, necklaces, or pendants
- Remove jewelry before manual work or activities that could cause impact
CLEANING YOUR JEWELRY
Gold & Silver (without stones):
Clean with very mild soapy water and a soft toothbrush. For tarnished silver, use baking soda or specialized silver cleaning solutions.
Jewelry with Stones:
Use only warm water and a soft cloth. Avoid soap and chemicals.
General Maintenance:
Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to maintain shine and remove fingerprints.
PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE
We recommend having your jewelry professionally examined and cleaned by a jeweler at least once a year, depending on frequency of wear. This helps identify potential issues before they become serious problems.
AUTHENTICITY & QUALITY ASSURANCE
All Budika Bijoux jewelry is marked with its own warranty mark and title mark, authorized in accordance with consumer protection standards for precious metals.
WARRANTY COVERAGE
The warranty covers material and workmanship defects under normal use conditions. The warranty does NOT cover:
- Damage from failure to follow care instructions
- Accidental damage or negligence
- Improper use or storage
- Natural wear and tear (including rhodium plating wear)
- Damage from chemicals, heat, or moisture
- Loss of stones due to impact or improper handling

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
- Natural oxidation of silver is not a defect
- Rhodium plating naturally wears off with use (3-6 months)
- Proper care extends the life and beauty of your jewelry
